KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?5“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.6Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.8Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?9Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
If ye love me, keep my commandments.15 “If you love me, obey my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.19 Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?22Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him, “Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?”
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.23Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.
He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.24 Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.28 Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.
And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.29 I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.30 “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me,
But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.31 but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.
