Psalm 3
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
1A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.1O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.
2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.2So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Interlude
3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.3But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.4I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude
5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.5I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me.
6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.6I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.
7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.7Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!
8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.8Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people. Interlude
