Psalm 5
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.
