Psalm 60
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.1You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.
Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.2You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.3You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling.
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.4But you have raised a banner for those who fear you— a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude
That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.5Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.6God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings.
Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.8But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.”
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?9Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom?
Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?10Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies?
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.11Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless.
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.12With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.
