For the choir director. A Psalm of David. The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.1The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.2Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard.3There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun,4Their message has gone out to the whole earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun.
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.5It is like a bridegroom coming from his home; it rejoices like an athlete running a course.
Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.6It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to their other end; nothing is hidden from its heat.
The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.7The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one's life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.8The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.9The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are reliable and altogether righteous.
They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.10They are more desirable than gold--than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.
Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward.11In addition, your servant is warned by them, and in keeping them there is an abundant reward.
Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults.12Who perceives his unintentional sins? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.
Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression.13Moreover, keep your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
