Psalm 56
NASB Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Christian Standard Bible
For the choir director; according to Jonath elem rehokim. A Mikhtam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me; Fighting all day long he oppresses me.1Be gracious to me, God, for a man is trampling me; he fights and oppresses me all day long.
My foes have trampled upon me all day long, For they are many who fight proudly against me.2My adversaries trample me all day, for many arrogantly fight against me.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.3When I am afraid, I will trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?4In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
All day long they distort my words; All their thoughts are against me for evil.5They twist my words all day long; all their thoughts against me are evil.
They attack, they lurk, They watch my steps, As they have waited to take my life.6They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.
Because of wickedness, cast them forth, In anger put down the peoples, O God!7Will they escape in spite of such sin? God, bring down the nations in wrath.
You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?8You yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call; This I know, that God is for me.9Then my enemies will retreat on the day when I call. This I know: God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise, In the LORD, whose word I praise,10In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?11in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mere humans do to me?
Your vows are binding upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You.12I am obligated by vows to you, God; I will make my thank offerings to you.
For You have delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living.13For you rescued me from death, even my feet from stumbling, to walk before God in the light of life.
