NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the stomach of the fish,1Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish,
and he said, "I called out of my distress to the LORD, And He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice.2saying, “I called out to the LORD, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice.
"For You had cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current engulfed me. All Your breakers and billows passed over me.3For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me.
"So I said, 'I have been expelled from Your sight. Nevertheless I will look again toward Your holy temple.'4Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’
"Water encompassed me to the point of death. The great deep engulfed me, Weeds were wrapped around my head.5The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head
"I descended to the roots of the mountains. The earth with its bars was around me forever, But You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.6at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.
"While I was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, And my prayer came to You, Into Your holy temple.7When my life was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.
"Those who regard vain idols Forsake their faithfulness,8Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.
But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the LORD."9But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the LORD!”
Then the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.10And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
