Corinthians 3
NASB Parallel HCSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995Holman Christian Standard Bible
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.1Brothers, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ.
I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,2I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you were not yet ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready,
for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?3because you are still fleshly. For since there is envy and strife among you, are you not fleshly and living like unbelievers?
For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men?4For whenever someone says, "I'm with Paul," and another, "I'm with Apollos," are you not unspiritual people?
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.7So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.8Now the one planting and the one watering are one in purpose, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.9For we are God's coworkers. You are God's field, God's building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.10According to God's grace that was given to me, I have laid a foundation as a skilled master builder, and another builds on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it.
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.11For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.
Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,12If anyone builds on that foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw,
each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.13each one's work will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one's work.
If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.14If anyone's work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward.
If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.15If anyone's work is burned up, it will be lost, but he will be saved; yet it will be like an escape through fire.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?16Don't you yourselves know that you are God's sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.17If anyone destroys God's sanctuary, God will destroy him; for God's sanctuary is holy, and that is what you are.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.18No one should deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, he must become foolish so that he can become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, "He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS";19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, since it is written: He catches the wise in their craftiness;
and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS."20and again, The Lord knows that the reasonings of the wise are meaningless.
So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you,21So no one should boast in human leaders, for everything is yours--
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come--everything is yours,
and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
