Psalm 27
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?1Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.2When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.3Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.4One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.5For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.6Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me.7Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek."8My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!9Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.
For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.10Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a level path Because of my foes.11Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.12Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.13I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.14Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
