Romans 12
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function,4For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.5so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;6We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching;7if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.8if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;10Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.13Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord.19Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
"BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD."20On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
