Psalm 52
NET Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleChristian Standard Bible
1For the music director; a well-written song by David. It was written when Doeg the Edomite went and informed Saul: "David has arrived at the home of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about your evil plans, O powerful man? God's loyal love protects me all day long! 1Why boast about evil, you hero! God's faithful love is constant.
2Your tongue carries out your destructive plans; it is as effective as a sharp razor, O deceiver. 2Like a sharpened razor, your tongue devises destruction, working treachery.
3You love evil more than good, lies more than speaking the truth. (Selah) 3You love evil instead of good, lying instead of speaking truthfully. Selah
4You love to use all the words that destroy, and the tongue that deceives. 4You love any words that destroy, you treacherous tongue!
5Yet God will make you a permanent heap of ruins. He will scoop you up and remove you from your home; he will uproot you from the land of the living. (Selah) 5This is why God will bring you down forever. He will take you, ripping you out of your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
6When the godly see this, they will be filled with awe, and will mock the evildoer, saying: 6The righteous will see and fear, and they will derisively say about that hero,
7"Look, here is the man who would not make God his protector! He trusted in his great wealth and was confident about his plans to destroy others." 7"Here is the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, taking refuge in his destructive behavior."
8But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I continually trust in God's loyal love. 8But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I trust in God's faithful love forever and ever.
9I will continually thank you when you execute judgment; I will rely on you, for your loyal followers know you are good. 9I will praise you forever for what you have done. In the presence of your faithful people, I will put my hope in your name, for it is good.
