NET BibleChristian Standard Bible
A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. 1God stands in the divine assembly; he pronounces judgment among the gods:
He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah) 2"How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! 3Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.
Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked! 4Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the power of the wicked."
They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. 5They do not know or understand; they wander in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' 6I said, "You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.
Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers." 7However, you will die like humans and fall like any other ruler."
Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations. 8Rise up, God, judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.
