Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.1And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
Every living creature of the earth and every bird of the sky will be terrified of you. Everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea are under your authority.2"The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given.
You may eat any moving thing that lives. As I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 3"Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.
But you must not eat meat with its life (that is, its blood) in it.4"Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
For your lifeblood I will surely exact punishment, from every living creature I will exact punishment. From each person I will exact punishment for the life of the individual since the man was his relative. 5"Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man's brother I will require the life of man.
"Whoever sheds human blood, by other humans must his blood be shed; for in God's image God has made humankind." 6"Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.
But as for you, be fruitful and multiply; increase abundantly on the earth and multiply on it." 7"As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it."
God said to Noah and his sons,8Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
"Look! I now confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you9"Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;
and with every living creature that is with you, including the birds, the domestic animals, and every living creature of the earth with you, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature of the earth.10and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.
I confirm my covenant with you: Never again will all living things be wiped out by the waters of a flood; never again will a flood destroy the earth." 11"I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."
And God said, "This is the guarantee of the covenant I am making with you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all subsequent generations:12God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations;
I will place my rainbow in the clouds, and it will become a guarantee of the covenant between me and the earth.13I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.
Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,14"It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud,
then I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures of all kinds. Never again will the waters become a flood and destroy all living things.15and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.
When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will notice it and remember the perpetual covenant between God and all living creatures of all kinds that are on the earth." 16"When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."
So God said to Noah, "This is the guarantee of the covenant that I am confirming between me and all living things that are on the earth." 17And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth."
The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Now Ham was the father of Canaan.)18Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.
These were the sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was populated. 19These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.
Noah, a man of the soil, began to plant a vineyard.20Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard.
When he drank some of the wine, he got drunk and uncovered himself inside his tent.21He drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.
Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers who were outside.22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.
Shem and Japheth took the garment and placed it on their shoulders. Then they walked in backwards and covered up their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so they did not see their father's nakedness. 23But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.
When Noah awoke from his drunken stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him.24When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him.
So he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves he will be to his brothers." 25So he said, "Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers."
He also said, "Worthy of praise is the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem! 26He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.
May God enlarge Japheth's territory and numbers! May he live in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be his slave!" 27"May God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant."
After the flood Noah lived 350 years.28Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood.
The entire lifetime of Noah was 950 years, and then he died. 29So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.
