| 1Now on the topic of times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you. | 1Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, |
| 2For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night. | 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. |
| 3Now when they are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape. | 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. |
| 4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would. | 4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. |
| 5For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness. | 5You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. |

| 15See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all. | 15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. |
