Psalm 57
NET Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew Living Translation
1For the music director; according to the al-tashcheth style; a prayer of David, written when he fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, O God! Have mercy on me! For in you I have taken shelter. In the shadow of your wings I take shelter until trouble passes. 1Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.
2I cry out for help to the sovereign God, to the God who vindicates me. 2I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.
3May he send help from heaven and deliver me from my enemies who hurl insults! (Selah) May God send his loyal love and faithfulness! 3He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.
4I am surrounded by lions; I lie down among those who want to devour me; men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are a sharp sword. 4I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords.
5Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! 5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth.
6They have prepared a net to trap me; I am discouraged. They have dug a pit for me. They will fall into it! (Selah) 6My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. Interlude
7I am determined, O God! I am determined! I will sing and praise you! 7My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!
8Awake, my soul! Awake, O stringed instrument and harp! I will wake up at dawn! 8Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song.
9I will give you thanks before the nations, O Master! I will sing praises to you before foreigners! 9I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations.
10For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds. 10For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
11Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! 11Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.
