Psalm 94
NIV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionChristian Standard Bible
The LORD is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth.1LORD, God of vengeance--God of vengeance, shine!
Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.2Rise up, Judge of the earth; repay the proud what they deserve.
How long, LORD, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant?3LORD, how long will the wicked--how long will the wicked celebrate?
They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.4They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.
They crush your people, LORD; they oppress your inheritance.5LORD, they crush your people; they oppress your heritage.
They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.6They kill the widow and the resident alien and murder the fatherless.
They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."7They say, "The LORD doesn't see it. The God of Jacob doesn't pay attention."
Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?8Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise?
Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?9Can the one who shaped the ear not hear, the one who formed the eye not see?
Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?10The one who instructs nations, the one who teaches mankind knowledge--does he not discipline?
The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.11The LORD knows the thoughts of mankind; they are futile.
Blessed is the one you discipline, LORD, the one you teach from your law;12LORD, how happy is anyone you discipline and teach from your law
you grant them relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.13to give him relief from troubled times until a pit is dug for the wicked.
For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.14The LORD will not leave his people or abandon his heritage,
Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.15for the administration of justice will again be righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?16Who stands up for me against the wicked? Who takes a stand for me against evildoers?
Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.17If the LORD had not been my helper, I would soon rest in the silence of death.
When I said, "My foot is slipping," your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.18If I say, "My foot is slipping," your faithful love will support me, LORD.
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.19When I am filled with cares, your comfort brings me joy.
Can a corrupt throne be allied with you-- a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?20Can a corrupt throne be your ally, a throne that makes evil laws?
The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.21They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.22But the LORD is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection.
He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.23He will pay them back for their sins and destroy them for their evil. The LORD our God will destroy them.
