But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.1God remembered Noah, as well as all the wildlife and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water began to subside.
Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky.2The sources of the watery depths and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky stopped.
The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,3The water steadily receded from the earth, and by the end of 150 days the waters had decreased significantly.
and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.4The ark came to rest in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.
The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.5The waters continued to recede until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.
After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark6After 40 days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made,
and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.7and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth.
Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground.8Then he sent out a dove to see whether the water on the earth's surface had gone down,
But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.9but the dove found no resting place for her foot. She returned to him in the ark because water covered the surface of the whole earth. He reached out and brought her into the ark to himself.
He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.10So Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove from the ark again.
When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.11When the dove came to him at evening, there was a plucked olive leaf in her beak. So Noah knew that the water on the earth's surface had gone down.
He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.12After he had waited another seven days, he sent out the dove, but she did not return to him again.
By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.13In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water that had covered the earth was dried up. Then Noah removed the ark's cover and saw that the surface of the ground was drying.
By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.14By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth was dry.
Then God said to Noah,15Then God spoke to Noah, "
"Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.16Come out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons' wives with you.
Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you--the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground--so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it."17Bring out all the living creatures that are with you--birds, livestock, those that crawl on the ground--and they will spread over the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth."
So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives.18So Noah, along with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, came out.
All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds--everything that moves on land--came out of the ark, one kind after another.19All wildlife, all livestock, every bird, and every creature that crawls on the earth came out of the ark by their groups.
Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.20Then Noah built an altar to the LORD. He took some of every kind of clean animal and every kind of clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.21When the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, He said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground because of man, even though man's inclination is evil from his youth. And I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.
"As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."22As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease."
