The LORD said to Moses,1The LORD spoke to Moses: "
"Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'This is what the LORD has commanded:2Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites and tell them: This is what the LORD has commanded:
Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside of it3Anyone from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, sheep, or goat in the camp, or slaughters it outside the camp,
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD in front of the tabernacle of the LORD--that person shall be considered guilty of bloodshed; they have shed blood and must be cut off from their people.4instead of bringing it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle--that person will be considered guilty. He has shed blood and must be cut off from his people.
This is so the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they are now making in the open fields. They must bring them to the priest, that is, to the LORD, at the entrance to the tent of meeting and sacrifice them as fellowship offerings.5This is so the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they have been offering in the open country. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting and offer them as fellowship sacrifices to the LORD.
The priest is to splash the blood against the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting and burn the fat as an aroma pleasing to the LORD.6The priest will then sprinkle the blood on the LORD's altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.'7They must no longer offer their sacrifices to the goat-demons that they have prostituted themselves with. This will be a permanent statute for them throughout their generations."
"Say to them: 'Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice8Say to them: Anyone from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who live among them who offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice
and does not bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD must be cut off from the people of Israel.9but does not bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people."
"'I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people.10Anyone from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who live among them who eats any blood, I will turn against that person who eats blood and cut him off from his people.
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.11For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have appointed it to you to make atonement on the altar for your lives, since it is the lifeblood that makes atonement.
Therefore I say to the Israelites, "None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner residing among you eat blood."12Therefore I say to the Israelites: None of you and no foreigner who lives among you may eat blood."
"'Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,13Any Israelite or foreigner living among them, who hunts down a wild animal or bird that may be eaten must drain its blood and cover it with dirt.
because the life of every creature is its blood. That is why I have said to the Israelites, "You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of every creature is its blood; anyone who eats it must be cut off."14Since the life of every creature is its blood, I have told the Israelites: You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it must be cut off."
"'Anyone, whether native-born or foreigner, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then they will be clean.15Every person, whether the native or the foreigner, who eats an animal that died a natural death or was mauled by wild beasts is to wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will remain unclean until evening; then he will be clean.
But if they do not wash their clothes and bathe themselves, they will be held responsible.'"16But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe himself, he will bear his punishment."
