Timothy 2
NIV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New International VersionKing James Bible
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
This is good, and pleases God our Savior,3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.7Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
