New International VersionKing James Bible
I looked again, and there before me was a flying scroll.1Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide."2And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
And he said to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.3Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
The LORD Almighty declares, 'I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.'"4I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, "Look up and see what is appearing."5Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.
I asked, "What is it?" He replied, "It is a basket." And he added, "This is the iniquity of the people throughout the land."6And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.
Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman!7And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.
He said, "This is wickedness," and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.8And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
Then I looked up--and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.9Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
"Where are they taking the basket?" I asked the angel who was speaking to me.10Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?
He replied, "To the country of Babylonia to build a house for it. When the house is ready, the basket will be set there in its place."11And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
