Psalm 84
New International VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!1For the choir director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely are Your dwelling places, O LORD of hosts!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.2My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God.3The bird also has found a house, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.4How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah.
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.5How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, In whose heart are the highways to Zion!
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.6Passing through the valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.7They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion.
Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob.8O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah.
Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.9Behold our shield, O God, And look upon the face of Your anointed.
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.11For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.12O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!
