Psalm 84
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!1How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.2I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the LORD. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God.3Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young at a place near your altar, O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, my King and my God!
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.4What joy for those who can live in your house, always singing your praises. Interlude
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.5What joy for those whose strength comes from the LORD, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.6When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.7They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem.
Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob.8O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, hear my prayer. Listen, O God of Jacob. Interlude
Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.9O God, look with favor upon the king, our shield! Show favor to the one you have anointed.
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.10A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.11For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.
LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.12O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.
