Psalm 5
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning.
Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.
But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make your way straight before me.8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.
Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.
