New King James VersionBerean Study Bible
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.2The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to surrender him to the will of his foes.
The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.3The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness.
I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”4I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against You.”
My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?”5My enemies say with malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?”
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it.6My visitor speaks falsehood; he gathers slander in his heart; he goes out and spreads it abroad.
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt.7All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me:
“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.”8“A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.9Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But You, O LORD, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them.10But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me.11By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever.12In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.13Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
