Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy: To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,2We always thank God for all of you, making mention of you constantly in our prayers.
remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,3We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work produced by faith, your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.4For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you,
For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.5because our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full assurance. You know how we lived among you for your benefit,
And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,6and you yourselves became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.
so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.7As a result, you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.8For the word of the Lord rang out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place that your faith in God has gone out. Therefore, we don't need to say anything,
For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,9for they themselves report what kind of reception we had from you: how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God
and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
