Psalm 4
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
1To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah2O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
3But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to Him.3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
4Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah4Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD.5Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
6There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.6There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!”
7You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.8In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
