A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle—1Davidic. May the LORD, my rock, be praised, who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare.
My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.2He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in Him; He subdues my people under me.
LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?3 LORD, what is man, that You care for him, the son of man, that You think of him?
Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow.4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Bow down Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.5 LORD, part Your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Shoot out Your arrows and destroy them.6Flash Your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners,7Reach down from heaven; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners
Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.8whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive.
I will sing a new song to You, O God; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,9God, I will sing a new song to You; I will play on a ten-stringed harp for You--
The One who gives salvation to kings, Who delivers David His servant From the deadly sword.10the One who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood—11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive.
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style;12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style.
That our barns may be full, Supplying all kinds of produce; That our sheep may bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our fields;13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields.
That our oxen may be well laden; That there be no breaking in or going out; That there be no outcry in our streets.14Our cattle will be well fed. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our public squares.
Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!15Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh.
