To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
You have given him his heart’s desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah2Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.3For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked life from You, and You gave it to him— Length of days forever and ever.4He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
His glory is great in Your salvation; Honor and majesty You have placed upon him.5His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence.6For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
For the king trusts in the LORD, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.7For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand will find those who hate You.8Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger; The LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, And the fire shall devour them.9Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth, And their descendants from among the sons of men.10Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
For they intended evil against You; They devised a plot which they are not able to perform.11For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
Therefore You will make them turn their back; You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces.12Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power.13Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
