Song of Solomon 4
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats, Going down from Mount Gilead.1You are beautiful, my darling, beautiful beyond words. Your eyes are like doves behind your veil. Your hair falls in waves, like a flock of goats winding down the slopes of Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of shorn sheep Which have come up from the washing, Every one of which bears twins, And none is barren among them.2Your teeth are as white as sheep, recently shorn and freshly washed. Your smile is flawless, each tooth matched with its twin.
Your lips are like a strand of scarlet, And your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil Are like a piece of pomegranate.3Your lips are like scarlet ribbon; your mouth is inviting. Your cheeks are like rosy pomegranates behind your veil.
Your neck is like the tower of David, Built for an armory, On which hang a thousand bucklers, All shields of mighty men.4Your neck is as beautiful as the tower of David, jeweled with the shields of a thousand heroes.
Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle, Which feed among the lilies.5Your breasts are like two fawns, twin fawns of a gazelle grazing among the lilies.
Until the day breaks And the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh And to the hill of frankincense.6Before the dawn breezes blow and the night shadows flee, I will hurry to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.
You are all fair, my love, And there is no spot in you.7You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way.
Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, With me from Lebanon. Look from the top of Amana, From the top of Senir and Hermon, From the lions’ dens, From the mountains of the leopards.8Come with me from Lebanon, my bride, come with me from Lebanon. Come down from Mount Amana, from the peaks of Senir and Hermon, where the lions have their dens and leopards live among the hills.
You have ravished my heart, My sister, my spouse; You have ravished my heart With one look of your eyes, With one link of your necklace.9You have captured my heart, my treasure, my bride. You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes, with a single jewel of your necklace.
How fair is your love, My sister, my spouse! How much better than wine is your love, And the scent of your perfumes Than all spices!10Your love delights me, my treasure, my bride. Your love is better than wine, your perfume more fragrant than spices.
Your lips, O my spouse, Drip as the honeycomb; Honey and milk are under your tongue; And the fragrance of your garments Is like the fragrance of Lebanon.11Your lips are as sweet as nectar, my bride. Honey and milk are under your tongue. Your clothes are scented like the cedars of Lebanon.
A garden enclosed Is my sister, my spouse, A spring shut up, A fountain sealed.12You are my private garden, my treasure, my bride, a secluded spring, a hidden fountain.
Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates With pleasant fruits, Fragrant henna with spikenard,13Your thighs shelter a paradise of pomegranates with rare spices— henna with nard,
Spikenard and saffron, Calamus and cinnamon, With all trees of frankincense, Myrrh and aloes, With all the chief spices—14nard and saffron, fragrant calamus and cinnamon, with all the trees of frankincense, myrrh, and aloes, and every other lovely spice.
A fountain of gardens, A well of living waters, And streams from Lebanon.15You are a garden fountain, a well of fresh water streaming down from Lebanon’s mountains. Young Woman
Awake, O north wind, And come, O south! Blow upon my garden, That its spices may flow out. Let my beloved come to his garden And eat its pleasant fruits.16Awake, north wind! Rise up, south wind! Blow on my garden and spread its fragrance all around. Come into your garden, my love; taste its finest fruits.
