How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because you give him victory.1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength. How greatly he exults in Your salvation!
For you have given him his heart’s desire; you have withheld nothing he requested. Interlude2You have granted his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head.3For You welcomed him with rich blessings; You placed on his head a crown of pure gold.
He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever.4He asked You for life, and You granted it—length of days, forever and ever.
Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty.5Great is his glory in Your salvation; You bestow on him splendor and majesty.
You have endowed him with eternal blessings and given him the joy of your presence.6For You grant him blessings forever; You cheer him with joy in Your presence.
For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.7For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you.8Your hand will apprehend all Your enemies; Your right hand will seize those who hate You.
You will throw them in a flaming furnace when you appear. The LORD will consume them in his anger; fire will devour them.9You will place them in a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing. In His wrath the LORD will engulf them, and the fire will consume them.
You will wipe their children from the face of the earth; they will never have descendants.10You will wipe their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from the sons of men.
Although they plot against you, their evil schemes will never succeed.11Though they intend You harm, the schemes they devise will not prevail.
For they will turn and run when they see your arrows aimed at them.12For You will put them to flight when Your bow is trained upon them.
Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.13Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your power.
