Psalm 124
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
1What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat:1A Song of degrees of David. If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2What if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us?2If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger.3Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us.4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives.5Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6Praise the LORD, who did not let their teeth tear us apart!6Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
