| 1Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet. | 1To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. |
| 2You are the most handsome of all. Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever. | 2Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. |
| 3Put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic! | 3Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. |
| 4In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds! | 4And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. |
| 5Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts. The nations fall beneath your feet. | 5Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee. |
| 6Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. | 6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. |
| 7You love justice and hate evil. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else. | 7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. |
| 8Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume your robes. In ivory palaces the music of strings entertains you. | 8All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. |
| 9Kings’ daughters are among your noble women. At your right side stands the queen, wearing jewelry of finest gold from Ophir! | 9Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. |
| 10Listen to me, O royal daughter; take to heart what I say. Forget your people and your family far away. | 10Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; |
| 11For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. | 11So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. |
| 12The princess of Tyre will shower you with gifts. The wealthy will beg your favor. | 12And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. |
| 13The bride, a princess, looks glorious in her golden gown. | 13The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. |
| 14In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids. | 14She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. |
| 15What a joyful and enthusiastic procession as they enter the king’s palace! | 15With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace. |
| 16Your sons will become kings like their father. You will make them rulers over many lands. | 16Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. |
| 17I will bring honor to your name in every generation. Therefore, the nations will praise you forever and ever. | 17I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever. |
