Psalm 114
New Living TranslationNET Bible
When the Israelites escaped from Egypt— when the family of Jacob left that foreign land—1When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,
the land of Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel became his kingdom.2Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.
The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away.3The sea looked and fled; the Jordan River turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs!4The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
What’s wrong, Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?5Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?
Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs?6Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.7Tremble, O earth, before the Lord--before the God of Jacob,
He turned the rock into a pool of water; yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock.8who turned a rock into a pool of water, a hard rock into springs of water!
