1 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and <i>by</i> our gathering together unto him, Now we ask you, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters,
2 not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come. not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness— the son of destruction— is revealed. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, Let no man deceive you by any means: for <i>that day shall not come</i>, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; No one is to deceive you in any way! For <i>it will not come</i> unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
4 He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
5 Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you? Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?
6 And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. And you know what restrains <i>him</i> now, so that he will be revealed in his time. And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth <i>will let</i>, until he be taken out of the way. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains <i>will do so</i> until He is removed. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.
9 The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and FALSE wonder, The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, <i>Even him</i>, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, <i>that is,</i> the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,
10 and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
11 For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
12 in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness. in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
13 But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth. But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: But we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers <i>and sisters</i> beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
14 To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. So then, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word <i>of mouth</i> or by letter from us. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given <i>us</i> everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,
17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed. comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
