Listen! The LORD is calling to the city-- and to fear your name is wisdom-- "Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.9The voice of the LORD cries to the city— and it is sound wisdom to fear your name: “Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!9The voice of the LORD will call to the city-- And it is sound wisdom to fear Your name: "Hear, O tribe. Who has appointed its time?9The LORD'S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.9The voice of Yahweh calls out to the city (and it is wise to fear Your name):" Pay attention to the rod and the One who ordained it.
Am I still to forget your ill-gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed?10Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?10"Is there yet a man in the wicked house, Along with treasures of wickedness And a short measure that is cursed?10Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?10Are there still the treasures of wickedness and the accursed short measure in the house of the wicked?
Shall I acquit someone with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?11Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?11"Can I justify wicked scales And a bag of deceptive weights?11Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?11Can I excuse wicked scales or bags of deceptive weights?
Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.12Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.12"For the rich men of the city are full of violence, Her residents speak lies, And their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.12For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.12For the wealthy of the city are full of violence, and its residents speak lies; the tongues in their mouths are deceitful."

Therefore, I have begun to destroy you, to ruin you because of your sins.13Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow, making you desolate because of your sins.13"So also I will make you sick, striking you down, Desolating you because of your sins.13Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.13As a result, I have begun to strike you severely, bringing desolation because of your sins.
You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword.14You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and there shall be hunger within you; you shall put away, but not preserve, and what you preserve I will give to the sword.14"You will eat, but you will not be satisfied, And your vileness will be in your midst. You will try to remove for safekeeping, But you will not preserve anything, And what you do preserve I will give to the sword.14Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.14You will eat but not be satisfied, for there will be hunger within you. What you acquire, you cannot save, and what you do save, I will give to the sword.
You will plant but not harvest; you will press olives but not use the oil, you will crush grapes but not drink the wine.15You shall sow, but not reap; you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.15"You will sow but you will not reap. You will tread the olive but will not anoint yourself with oil; And the grapes, but you will not drink wine.15Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.15You will sow but not reap; you will press olives but not anoint yourself with oil; and you will tread grapes but not drink the wine.
You have observed the statutes of Omri and all the practices of Ahab's house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations."16For you have kept the statutes of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab; and you have walked in their counsels, that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing; so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”16"The statutes of Omri And all the works of the house of Ahab are observed; And in their devices you walk. Therefore I will give you up for destruction And your inhabitants for derision, And you will bear the reproach of My people."16For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.16The statutes of Omri and all the practices of Ahab's house have been observed; you have followed their policies. Therefore, I will make you a desolate place and the city's residents an object of contempt; you will bear the scorn of My people."
