1Now about spiritual [gifts], brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 1Περὶ δὲ τῶν πνευματικῶν ἀδελφοί οὐ θέλω ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν
2You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced [and] led astray to mute idols. 2Οἴδατε ὅτι ὅτε ἔθνη ἦτε πρὸς τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ ἄφωνα ὡς ἂν ἤγεσθε ἀπαγόμενοι
3Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by [the] Spirit of God says, “Jesus [be] cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus [is] Lord,” except by [the] Holy Spirit. 3διὸ γνωρίζω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ λαλῶν λέγει Αναθεμα ΙΗΣΟΥΣ καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται εἰπεῖν Κυριος ΙΗΣΟΥΣ εἰ μὴ ἐν Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ
4There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. 4Διαιρέσεις δὲ χαρισμάτων εἰσίν τὸ δὲ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
5There are different ministries, but the same Lord. 5καὶ διαιρέσεις διακονιῶν εἰσιν καὶ ὁ αὐτὸς Κύριος
6There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all men. 6καὶ διαιρέσεις ἐνεργημάτων εἰσίν (καὶ) ὁ δὲ αὐτὸς Θεός ὁ ἐνεργῶν τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 7Ἑκάστῳ δὲ δίδοται ἡ φανέρωσις τοῦ Πνεύματος πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον
8To one there is given through the Spirit [the] message of wisdom, to another [the] message of knowledge by the same Spirit, 8ᾧ μὲν γὰρ διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος δίδοται λόγος σοφίας ἄλλῳ δὲ λόγος γνώσεως κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 9ἑτέρῳ πίστις ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ Πνεύματι ἄλλῳ δὲ χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἐν τῷ ἑνὶ Πνεύματι
10to another [the] working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to [still] another [the] interpretation of tongues. 10ἄλλῳ δὲ ἐνεργήματα δυνάμεων ἄλλῳ δὲ προφητεία ἄλλῳ δὲ διακρίσεις πνευμάτων ἑτέρῳ γένη γλωσσῶν ἄλλῳ δὲ ἑρμηνεία γλωσσῶν
11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions [them] to each one as He determines. 11πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἐνεργεῖ τὸ ἓν καὶ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα διαιροῦν ἰδίᾳ ἑκάστῳ καθὼς βούλεται
12The body is a unit, though it is comprised of many parts. And [although] [its] parts are many, they all form one body. So [it is] with Christ. 12Καθάπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα ἕν ἐστιν καὶ μέλη πολλὰ ἔχει πάντα δὲ τὰ μέλη τοῦ σώματος πολλὰ ὄντα ἕν ἐστιν σῶμα οὕτως καὶ ὁ Χριστός
13For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit {to drink}. 13καὶ γὰρ ἐν ἑνὶ Πνεύματι ἡμεῖς πάντες εἰς ἓν σῶμα ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἴτε Ἰουδαῖοι εἴτε Ἕλληνες εἴτε δοῦλοι εἴτε ἐλεύθεροι καὶ πάντες ἓν Πνεῦμα ἐποτίσθημεν
14For the body does not consist of one part, but of many. 14Καὶ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα οὐκ ἔστιν ἓν μέλος ἀλλὰ πολλά
15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not [ make it any less ] a part of the body. 15ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ πούς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ χείρ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not [ make it any less ] a part of the body. 16καὶ ἐὰν εἴπῃ τὸ οὖς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ὀφθαλμός οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
17If the whole body [were] an eye, where [would] the sense of hearing [be]? If [the] whole [body] [were] an ear, where [would] the sense of smell [be]? 17εἰ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ὀφθαλμός ποῦ ἡ ἀκοή εἰ ὅλον ἀκοή ποῦ ἡ ὄσφρησις
18But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design. 18Νυνὶ* δὲ ὁ Θεὸς ἔθετο τὰ μέλη ἓν ἕκαστον αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ σώματι καθὼς ἠθέλησεν
19If they were all one part, where [would] the body [be]? 19εἰ δὲ ἦν τὰ πάντα ἓν μέλος ποῦ τὸ σῶμα
20As it is, [there are] many parts, but one body. 20νῦν δὲ πολλὰ μὲν μέλη ἓν δὲ σῶμα
21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” [Nor can] the head [say] to the feet, “I do not need you.” 21Οὐ δύναται δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμὸς εἰπεῖν τῇ χειρί Χρείαν σου οὐκ ἔχω ἢ πάλιν ἡ κεφαλὴ τοῖς ποσίν Χρείαν ὑμῶν οὐκ ἔχω
22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 22ἀλλὰ πολλῷ μᾶλλον τὰ δοκοῦντα μέλη τοῦ σώματος ἀσθενέστερα ὑπάρχειν ἀναγκαῖά ἐστιν
23and the [parts] we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable [parts] are treated with special modesty, 23καὶ ἃ δοκοῦμεν ἀτιμότερα εἶναι τοῦ σώματος τούτοις τιμὴν περισσοτέραν περιτίθεμεν καὶ τὰ ἀσχήμονα ἡμῶν εὐσχημοσύνην περισσοτέραν ἔχει
24whereas our presentable [parts] have no [such] need. But God has composed the body [and] has given greater honor to the [parts] that lacked it, 24τὰ δὲ εὐσχήμονα ἡμῶν οὐ χρείαν ἔχει Ἀλλὰ ὁ θεὸς συνεκέρασεν τὸ σῶμα τῷ ὑστερουμένῳ περισσοτέραν δοὺς τιμήν
25so that there should be no division in the body, but that [its] members {should have} mutual concern for one another. 25ἵνα μὴ ᾖ σχίσμα ἐν τῷ σώματι ἀλλὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων μεριμνῶσιν τὰ μέλη
26If one part suffers, every part suffers with [it]; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with [it]. 26καὶ εἴτε πάσχει ἓν μέλος συμπάσχει πάντα τὰ μέλη εἴτε δοξάζεται [ἓν] μέλος συνχαίρει πάντα τὰ μέλη
27Now you are [the] body of Christ, and each of you [is] a member [of it]. 27Ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε σῶμα Χριστοῦ καὶ μέλη ἐκ μέρους
28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then [workers of] miracles, [and] [those with] gifts of healing, helping, administration, [and] various tongues. 28Καὶ οὓς μὲν ἔθετο ὁ Θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ πρῶτον ἀποστόλους δεύτερον προφήτας τρίτον διδασκάλους ἔπειτα δυνάμεις ἔπειτα χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἀντιλήμψεις κυβερνήσεις γένη γλωσσῶν
29[Are] all apostles? [Are] all prophets? [Are] all teachers? [Do] all [work] miracles? 29μὴ πάντες ἀπόστολοι μὴ πάντες προφῆται μὴ πάντες διδάσκαλοι μὴ πάντες δυνάμεις
30[Do] all have gifts of healing? [Do] all speak in tongues? [Do] all interpret? 30μὴ πάντες χαρίσματα ἔχουσιν ἰαμάτων μὴ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλοῦσιν μὴ πάντες διερμηνεύουσιν
31But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. 31ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ χαρίσματα τὰ μείζονα Καὶ ἔτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῖν δείκνυμι
