1{On many} past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to [our] fathers through the prophets. 1Πολυμερῶς καὶ πολυτρόπως πάλαι ὁ Θεὸς λαλήσας τοῖς πατράσιν ἐν τοῖς προφήταις
2But in these last days He has spoken to us by [His] Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. 2ἐπ’ ἐσχάτου τῶν ἡμερῶν τούτων ἐλάλησεν ἡμῖν ἐν Υἱῷ ὃν ἔθηκεν κληρονόμον πάντων δι’ οὗ καὶ ἐποίησεν τοὺς αἰῶνας
3[The Son] is [the] radiance of [God’s] glory and [the] exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. [After] He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at [the] right hand of the Majesty on high. 3ὃς ὢν ἀπαύγασμα τῆς δόξης καὶ χαρακτὴρ τῆς ὑποστάσεως αὐτοῦ φέρων τε τὰ πάντα τῷ ῥήματι τῆς δυνάμεως ‹δι’› αὐτοῦ καθαρισμὸν τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ποιησάμενος ἐκάθισεν ἐν δεξιᾷ τῆς Μεγαλωσύνης ἐν ὑψηλοῖς
4[So] He became as far superior to the angels as [the] name He has inherited [is] excellent beyond theirs. 4τοσούτῳ κρείττων γενόμενος τῶν ἀγγέλων ὅσῳ διαφορώτερον παρ’ αὐτοὺς κεκληρονόμηκεν ὄνομα
5For to which of the angels did [God] ever say: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father”? [Or] again: “I will be His Father, and He will be My Son”? 5Τίνι γὰρ εἶπέν ποτε τῶν ἀγγέλων Υἱός μου εἶ σύ ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε Καὶ πάλιν Ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτῷ εἰς Πατέρα καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται μοι εἰς Υἱόν
6And again, when [God] brings [His] firstborn into the world, He says: “{Let} all God’s angels worship Him.” 6Ὅταν δὲ πάλιν εἰσαγάγῃ τὸν πρωτότοκον εἰς τὴν οἰκουμένην λέγει Καὶ προσκυνησάτωσαν αὐτῷ πάντες ἄγγελοι Θεοῦ
7Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire.” 7Καὶ πρὸς μὲν τοὺς ἀγγέλους λέγει Ὁ ποιῶν τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ πνεύματα καὶ τοὺς λειτουργοὺς αὐτοῦ πυρὸς φλόγα
8But about the Son [He says]: “Your throne, O God, [endures] forever and ever, and justice [is] the scepter of Your kingdom. 8Πρὸς δὲ τὸν Υἱόν Ὁ θρόνος σου ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος τῆς εὐθύτητος ῥάβδος τῆς βασιλείας σου*
9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, { has placed } You above Your companions by anointing [ You ] with [the] oil of joy.” 9ἠγάπησας δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἐμίσησας ἀνομίαν διὰ τοῦτο ἔχρισέν σε ὁ Θεός ὁ Θεός σου ἔλαιον ἀγαλλιάσεως παρὰ τοὺς μετόχους σου
10And: “In [the] beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are [the] work of Your hands. 10Καί Σὺ κατ’ ἀρχάς Κύριε τὴν γῆν ἐθεμελίωσας καὶ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν σού εἰσιν οἱ οὐρανοί
11They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment. 11αὐτοὶ ἀπολοῦνται σὺ δὲ διαμένεις καὶ πάντες ὡς ἱμάτιον παλαιωθήσονται
12You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed; but You remain the same, and Your years will never end.” 12καὶ ὡσεὶ περιβόλαιον ἑλίξεις αὐτούς ὡς ἱμάτιον καὶ ἀλλαγήσονται σὺ δὲ ὁ αὐτὸς εἶ καὶ τὰ ἔτη σου οὐκ ἐκλείψουσιν
13But to which of the angels did [God] ever say: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet”? 13Πρὸς τίνα δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἴρηκέν ποτε Κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου
14Are not [the angels] ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? 14Οὐχὶ πάντες εἰσὶν λειτουργικὰ πνεύματα εἰς διακονίαν ἀποστελλόμενα διὰ τοὺς μέλλοντας κληρονομεῖν σωτηρίαν
