I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you,

Belshazzar spoke from the polytheistic worldview of Babylon, attributing Daniel’s abilities to the gods he worshiped. Though he misunderstood their source, he recognized that Daniel possessed a divine wisdom absent from the court’s magicians and enchanters.

Daniel’s understanding included sound judgment and discernment in both royal affairs and spiritual matters. He had served through changing rulers and administrations without compromising his faithfulness to God.
