Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins;

Those who return from Babylonian exile will rebuild Jerusalem and the devastated towns of Judah. The work will display God’s faithfulness to His covenant people after judgment had fallen because of their sin. Jerusalem’s broken defenses would be repaired, but the greater breach was created by sin, which brought alienation from God and disorder among His people. God uses restored Israel to heal what rebellion had torn down. Jesus Christ fulfills this work perfectly, reconciling sinners to God through His atoning death and creating one people from those once divided.
