They rejoiced in the silence,

After the raging sea was stilled, the sailors knew that their deliverance had come from the Lord. Their joy arose from relief, gratitude, and reverent recognition of God’s power over forces no human strength could control. Jesus displayed the same divine authority when He rebuked the wind and commanded the sea, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39). God also brings peace to His people amid affliction, quieting fears and sustaining those who call upon Him.

and He guided them to the harbor they desired.

The Lord did more than preserve them from destruction; He brought them safely to the destination for which they had longed. A harbor offered refuge from danger, rest after labor, and security for those exposed to the hazards of the sea. God’s guidance of the sailors reflects His faithful care for all who trust Him. Christ leads His redeemed into the lasting rest God has prepared, where the trials of the present journey give way to safety and peace (Hebrews 4:9–10).
