Berean Study Bible Extol Him, All You PeoplesIsrael’s God is sovereign over every people, not Israel alone. From its place among surrounding nations, Israel was called to bear witness to the Lord’s holiness and salvation. The summons looks beyond Israel’s borders to the day when the nations will gather in worship under the reign of the Messiah. Rom 15:11 Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and extol Him,… Extol Him, all you peoples! Every tribe, language, and culture is included in this command to extol, praising God enthusiastically with deep, heartfelt worship. “Peoples” (Hebrew, le’umim) emphasizes the inclusivity of this call, inviting every ethnic group and culture to worship. God’s promise to bless all families of the earth through Abraham reaches its fulfillment in Christ, who brings people from every nation into the worship of the one true God. The repeated call emphasizes the certainty of God’s worldwide praise. Psa 148:11-13 kings of the earth and all peoples, princes… For great is His loving devotion toward us, God’s covenant love for His people is abundant and steadfast. Israel’s history repeatedly displayed this mercy in deliverance, preservation, discipline, and restoration. His care was not based on Israel’s strength or merit, but on His faithful commitment to His promises. Psa 86:13 For great is Your loving devotion to me;… and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. The LORD remains true to every word He has spoken. Generations pass, kingdoms rise and fall, yet His purposes do not change. His faithfulness guarantees the fulfillment of His covenant promises and finds its fullest expression in the redemption accomplished through Jesus Christ. Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good, and His loving devotion endures… Hallelujah! The fitting response to God’s enduring love and faithfulness is praise. The psalm closes by calling all peoples to acknowledge the LORD and honor Him with “Hallelujah,” meaning “Praise the LORD.” Psa 106:1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;… This is a draft of the Berean Study Bible. Please send all comments and recommendations to bereanstudybible@aol.com. Bible Hub |
