Our text may be due to a copyist, whose eye wandered to the beginning of the next verse; but it is possible that the chronicler missed the significance of the verb used in Kings, and therefore substituted an easier term. The further changes--"unto great abundance," "for the weight," &c.--suggest this account of the matter.
