Twenty-Four Divisions of Priests

1  וְלִבְנֵ֥י (And the sons) אַהֲרֹ֖ן (of Aaron)— מַחְלְקוֹתָ֑ם (these are the divisions) בְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) אַהֲרֹ֔ן (of Aaron): נָדָב֙ (Nadab), וַאֲבִיה֔וּא (and Abihu), אֶלְעָזָ֖ר (Eleazar), וְאִיתָמָֽר׃ (and Ithamar). 2  וַיָּ֨מָת (And died) נָדָ֤ב (Nadab) וַאֲבִיהוּא֙ (and Abihu) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) אֲבִיהֶ֔ם (of their father), וּבָנִ֖ים (and children). לֹא־ (Not) הָי֣וּ (there were) לָהֶ֑ם (unto them), וַֽיְכַהֲנ֔וּ (and served as priests) אֶלְעָזָ֖ר (Eleazar) וְאִיתָמָֽר׃ (and Ithamar).

3  וַיֶּֽחָלְקֵ֣ם (And divided them) דָּוִ֔יד (David) וְצָדוֹק֙ (and Zadok) מִן־ (of) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) אֶלְעָזָ֔ר (of Eleazar), וַאֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ (and Ahimelech) מִן־ (of) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) אִיתָמָ֑ר (of Ithamar), לִפְקֻדָּתָ֖ם (according to their office) בַּעֲבֹדָתָֽם׃ (in their service). 4  וַיִּמָּצְא֣וּ (And there were found) בְֽנֵי־ (of the sons) אֶלְעָזָ֡ר (of Eleazar) רַבִּ֞ים (more) לְרָאשֵׁ֧י (for heads) הַגְּבָרִ֛ים (of the mighty men) מִן־ (than) בְּנֵ֥י (of the sons) אִיתָמָ֖ר (of Ithamar), וַֽיַּחְלְק֑וּם (and they were divided). לִבְנֵ֨י (Among the sons) אֶלְעָזָ֜ר (of Eleazar) רָאשִׁ֤ים (heads) לְבֵית־ (for a house) אָבוֹת֙ (of fathers), שִׁשָּׁ֣ה (six) עָשָׂ֔ר (and ten). וְלִבְנֵ֧י (And among the sons) אִיתָמָ֛ר (of Ithamar) לְבֵ֥ית (for a house) אֲבוֹתָ֖ם (of their fathers), שְׁמוֹנָֽה׃ (eight).

5  וַיַּחְלְק֥וּם (And they were divided) בְּגוֹרָל֖וֹת (by lot), אֵ֣לֶּה (these) עִם־ (with) אֵ֑לֶּה (these); כִּי־ (for) הָי֤וּ (there were) שָֽׂרֵי־ (officials) קֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ (of the sanctuary) וְשָׂרֵ֣י (and officials) הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God) מִבְּנֵ֥י (from the sons) אֶלְעָזָ֖ר (of Eleazar) וּבִבְנֵ֥י (and from the sons) אִיתָמָֽר׃ס (of Ithamar).

6  וַֽיִּכְתְּבֵ֡ם (And wrote them down) שְֽׁמַֽעְיָה֩ (Shemaiah) בֶן־ (son) נְתַנְאֵ֨ל (of Nethanel) הַסּוֹפֵ֜ר (the scribe), מִן־ (of) הַלֵּוִ֗י (the Levite), לִפְנֵ֨י (before the face of) הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ (the king), וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ (and the princes), וְצָד֣וֹק (and Zadok) הַכֹּהֵ֗ן (the priest), וַאֲחִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ (and Ahimelech) בֶּן־ (son) אֶבְיָתָ֔ר (of Abiathar), וְרָאשֵׁי֙ (and the heads) הָֽאָב֔וֹת (of the fathers) לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים (of the priests) וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם (and Levites)— בֵּֽית־ (house) אָ֣ב (of father) אֶחָ֗ד (one) אָחֻז֙ (taken) לְאֶלְעָזָ֔ר (for Eleazar), וְאָחֻ֥ז׀ (and one being taken) אָחֻ֖ז (possession of) לְאִיתָמָֽר׃פ (for Ithamar).

7  וַיֵּצֵ֞א (And fell) הַגּוֹרָ֤ל (the lot) הָרִאשׁוֹן֙ (first) לִיה֣וֹיָרִ֔יב (to Jehoiarib),

לִֽידַעְיָ֖ה (to Jedaiah) הַשֵּׁנִֽי׃ (the second),

8  לְחָרִם֙ (to Harim) הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י (the third),

לִשְׂעֹרִ֖ים (to Seorim) הָרְבִעִֽי׃ (the fourth),

9  לְמַלְכִּיָּה֙ (to Malchijah) הַחֲמִישִׁ֔י (the fifth),

לְמִיָּמִ֖ן (to Mijamin) הַשִּׁשִּֽׁי׃ (the sixth),

10  לְהַקּוֹץ֙ (to Koz) הַשְּׁבִעִ֔י (the seventh),

לַאֲבִיָּ֖ה (to Abijah) הַשְּׁמִינִֽי׃ (the eighth),

11  לְיֵשׁ֙וּעַ֙ (to Jeshua) הַתְּשִׁעִ֔י (the ninth),

לִשְׁכַנְיָ֖הוּ (to Shecaniah) הָעֲשִׂרִֽי׃ (the tenth),

12  לְאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ (to Eliashib) עַשְׁתֵּ֣י (the one) עָשָׂ֔ר (and tenth),

לְיָקִ֖ים (to Jakim) שְׁנֵ֥ים (the two) עָשָֽׂר׃ (and tenth).

13  לְחֻפָּה֙ (To Huppah) שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה (the three) עָשָׂ֔ר (and ten),

לְיֶֽשֶׁבְאָ֖ב (to Jeshebeab) אַרְבָּעָ֥ה (the four) עָשָֽׂר׃ (and tenth),

14  לְבִלְגָּה֙ (to Bilgah) חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה (the five) עָשָׂ֔ר (and tenth),

לְאִמֵּ֖ר (to Immer) שִׁשָּׁ֥ה (the six) עָשָֽׂר׃ (and tenth),

15  לְחֵזִיר֙ (to Hezir) שִׁבְעָ֣ה (the seven) עָשָׂ֔ר (and tenth),

לְהַפִּצֵּ֖ץ (to Happizzez) שְׁמוֹנָ֥ה (the eight) עָשָֽׂר׃ (and tenth),

16  לִֽפְתַחְיָה֙ (to Pethahiah) תִּשְׁעָ֣ה (the nine) עָשָׂ֔ר (and tenth),

לִֽיחֶזְקֵ֖אל (to Ezekiel) הָעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ (the twentieth),

17  לְיָכִין֙ (to Jachin) אֶחָ֣ד (the one) וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים (and twentieth),

לְגָמ֖וּל (to Gamul) שְׁנַ֥יִם (the two) וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃ (and twentieth),

18  לִדְלָיָ֙הוּ֙ (to Delaiah) שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה (the three) וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים (and twentieth),

לְמַֽעַזְיָ֖הוּ (to Maaziah) אַרְבָּעָ֥ה (the four) וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃פ (and twentieth).

19  אֵ֣לֶּה (These) פְקֻדָּתָ֞ם (were their appointments) לַעֲבֹדָתָ֗ם (for their service) לָב֤וֹא (for coming) לְבֵית־ (into the house) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH), כְּמִשְׁפָּטָ֔ם (according to their ordinance) בְּיַ֖ד (by the hand) אַהֲרֹ֣ן (of Aaron) אֲבִיהֶ֑ם (their father), כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) צִוָּ֔הוּ (had commanded him) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֥י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ (of Israel).

The Rest of the Levites

20  וְלִבְנֵ֥י (And of the sons) לֵוִ֖י (of Levi) הַנּוֹתָרִ֑ים (those remaining):

לִבְנֵ֤י (Of the sons) עַמְרָם֙ (of Amram): שֽׁוּבָאֵ֔ל (Shubael);

לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) שׁוּבָאֵ֖ל (of Shubael); יֶחְדְּיָֽהוּ׃ (Jehdeiah).

21  לִרְחַבְיָ֑הוּ (To Rehabiah), לִבְנֵ֣י (of the sons) רְחַבְיָ֔הוּ (of Rehabiah): הָרֹ֖אשׁ (The first) יִשִּׁיָּֽה׃ (was Isshiah).

22  לַיִּצְהָרִ֣י (Of the Izharite): שְׁלֹמ֔וֹת (Shelomoth);

לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) שְׁלֹמ֖וֹת (of Shelomoth), יָֽחַת׃ (Jahath).

23  וּבְנָ֖י (And of the sons) יְרִיָּ֑הוּ (of Jeriah): אֲמַרְיָ֙הוּ֙ (Amariah) הַשֵּׁנִ֔י (the second), יַחֲזִיאֵל֙ (Jahaziel) הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י (the third), יְקַמְעָ֖ם (and Jekameam) הָרְבִיעִֽי׃ (the fourth).

24  בְּנֵ֤י (Sons) עֻזִּיאֵל֙ (of Uzziel): מִיכָ֔ה (Micah);

לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) מִיכָ֖ה (of Micah): שָׁמוּר׃ (Shamir).

25  אֲחִ֤י (The brother) מִיכָה֙ (of Micah): יִשִּׁיָּ֔ה (Isshiah);

לִבְנֵ֥י (of the sons) יִשִּׁיָּ֖ה (of Isshiah), זְכַרְיָֽהוּ׃ (Zechariah);

26  בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) מְרָרִי֙ (of Merari): מַחְלִ֣י (Mahli) וּמוּשִׁ֔י (and Mushi);

בְּנֵ֖י (the sons) יַעֲזִיָּ֥הֽוּ (of Jaaziah): בְנֽוֹ׃ (Beno);

27  בְּנֵ֖י (the sons) מְרָרִ֑י (of Merari) לְיַֽעֲזִיָּ֣הֽוּ (by Jaaziah): בְנ֔וֹ (Beno), וְשֹׁ֥הַם (and Shoham), וְזַכּ֖וּר (and Zaccur), וְעִבְרִֽי׃ (and Ibri).

28  לְמַחְלִי֙ (Of Mahli): אֶלְעָזָ֔ר (Eleazar), וְלֹא־ (and not) הָ֥יָה (were) ל֖וֹ (to him) בָּנִֽים׃ (sons).

29  לְקִ֖ישׁ (Of Kish): בְּנֵי־ (The son) קִ֥ישׁ (of Kish), יְרַחְמְאֵֽל׃ (Jerahmeel).

30  וּבְנֵ֣י (And the sons) מוּשִׁ֔י (of Mushi): מַחְלִ֥י (Mahli), וְעֵ֖דֶר (and Eder), וִירִימ֑וֹת (and Jerimoth).

אֵ֛לֶּה (These were) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) הַלְוִיִּ֖ם (of the Levites) לְבֵ֥ית (according to house) אֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ (of their fathers). 31  וַיַּפִּילוּ֩ (And cast) גַם־ (also) הֵ֨ם (they) גּוֹרָל֜וֹת (lots) לְעֻמַּ֣ת׀ (as) אֲחֵיהֶ֣ם (their brothers), בְּנֵֽי־ (the sons) אַהֲרֹ֗ן (of Aaron), לִפְנֵ֨י (before the face) דָוִ֤יד (of David) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (the king), וְצָד֣וֹק (and Zadok), וַאֲחִימֶ֔לֶךְ (and Ahimelech), וְרָאשֵׁי֙ (and the heads) הָֽאָב֔וֹת (of the fathers) לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים (of the priests) וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם (and Levites)— אָב֣וֹת (father) הָרֹ֔אשׁ (the chief) לְעֻמַּ֖ת (as) אָחִ֥יו (his brother) הַקָּטָֽן׃ס (younger).
