Salvation for Foreigners

1  כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

שִׁמְר֥וּ (Keep) מִשְׁפָּ֖ט (justice), וַעֲשׂ֣וּ (and do) צְדָקָ֑ה (what is right),

כִּֽי־ (for) קְרוֹבָ֤ה (is near) יְשֽׁוּעָתִי֙ (My salvation) לָב֔וֹא (to arriving),

וְצִדְקָתִ֖י (and My righteousness) לְהִגָּלֽוֹת׃ (to being revealed).

2  אַשְׁרֵ֤י (Blessed is) אֱנוֹשׁ֙ (the man) יַעֲשֶׂה־ (who does) זֹּ֔את (this),

וּבֶן־ (and the son) אָדָ֖ם (of man) יַחֲזִ֣יק (who grabs hold) בָּ֑הּ (of it)

שֹׁמֵ֤ר (keeping) שַׁבָּת֙ (the Sabbath) מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ (from being profaned)

וְשֹׁמֵ֥ר (and keeping) יָד֖וֹ (his hand) מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת (from doing) כָּל־ (any) רָֽע׃ס (evil).

3  וְאַל־ (And not) יֹאמַ֣ר (let speak), בֶּן־ (a son) הַנֵּכָ֗ר (of the foreigner), הַנִּלְוָ֤ה (who has joined himself) אֶל־ (to) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying),

הַבְדֵּ֧ל (Separating) יַבְדִּילַ֛נִי (will separate me) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) מֵעַ֣ל (from) עַמּ֑וֹ (His people).

וְאַל־ (And not) יֹאמַר֙ (let say), הַסָּרִ֔יס (the eunuch)

הֵ֥ן (Behold), אֲנִ֖י (I am) עֵ֥ץ (a tree) יָבֵֽשׁ׃ס (dry).

4  כִּי־ (For) כֹ֣ה׀ (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH)

לַסָּֽרִיסִים֙ (To the eunuchs) אֲשֶׁ֤ר (who) יִשְׁמְרוּ֙ (keep) אֶת־ (-) שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֔י (My Sabbaths),

וּבָֽחֲר֖וּ (and choose) בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (what) חָפָ֑צְתִּי (I delight in)

וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים (and hold fast) בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃ (to My covenant);

5  וְנָתַתִּ֨י (and will I give) לָהֶ֜ם (to them) בְּבֵיתִ֤י (in My house) וּבְחֽוֹמֹתַי֙ (and within My walls)

יָ֣ד (a place) וָשֵׁ֔ם (and a name)

ט֖וֹב (better) מִבָּנִ֣ים (than sons) וּמִבָּנ֑וֹת (and daughters);

שֵׁ֤ם (an name), עוֹלָם֙ (everlasting) אֶתֶּן־ (I will give) ל֔וֹ (to them)

אֲשֶׁ֖ר (that) לֹ֥א (not) יִכָּרֵֽת׃ס (will be cut off).

6  וּבְנֵ֣י (And the sons) הַנֵּכָ֗ר (of the foreigner), הַנִּלְוִ֤ים (who join themselves) עַל־ (to) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH),

לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ (to serve Him)

וּֽלְאַהֲבָה֙ (and to love) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֣ם (the name) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH),

לִהְי֥וֹת (to be) ל֖וֹ (His) לַעֲבָדִ֑ים (servants),

כָּל־ (every) שֹׁמֵ֤ר (keeping) שַׁבָּת֙ (the Sabbath) מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ (from being profaned)

וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים (and holding firmly) בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃ (to My covenant);

7  וַהֲבִיאוֹתִ֞ים (even them I will bring) אֶל־ (to) הַ֣ר (mountain), קָדְשִׁ֗י (My holy)

וְשִׂמַּחְתִּים֙ (and I will make them joyful) בְּבֵ֣ית (in My house) תְּפִלָּתִ֔י (of prayer).

עוֹלֹתֵיהֶ֧ם (Their burnt offerings) וְזִבְחֵיהֶ֛ם (and their sacrifices)

לְרָצ֖וֹן (will be accepted) עַֽל־ (on) מִזְבְּחִ֑י (My altar);

כִּ֣י (for) בֵיתִ֔י (My house) בֵּית־ (a house) תְּפִלָּ֥ה (of prayer) יִקָּרֵ֖א (will be called)

לְכָל־ (for all) הָעַמִּֽים׃ (the nations).

8  נְאֻם֙ (A declaration), אֲדֹנָ֣י (of the Lord) יְהוִ֔ה (YHWH)

מְקַבֵּ֖ץ (the One gathering) נִדְחֵ֣י (the banished ones) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel)

ע֛וֹד (Yet more) אֲקַבֵּ֥ץ (will I gather) עָלָ֖יו (to him)

לְנִקְבָּצָֽיו׃ (besides those having been gathered to him).

Israel’s Sinful Leaders

9  כֹּ֖ל (Every) חַיְת֣וֹ (beast) שָׂדָ֑י (of the field),

אֵתָ֕יוּ (come) לֶאֱכֹ֥ל (to devour),

כָּל־ (every) חַיְת֖וֹ (beast) בַּיָּֽעַר׃ס (in the forest).

10  צָפוּ (His watchmen) עִוְרִ֤ים (are blind), כֻּלָּם֙ (all of them)

לֹ֣א (they do not) יָדָ֔עוּ (know),

כֻּלָּם֙ (all of them are) כְּלָבִ֣ים (dogs), אִלְּמִ֔ים (mute)

לֹ֥א (not) יוּכְל֖וּ (are they able) לִנְבֹּ֑חַ (to bark);

הֹזִים֙ (dreaming), שֹֽׁכְבִ֔ים (lying down),

אֹהֲבֵ֖י (loving) לָנֽוּם׃ (to sleep).

11  וְהַכְּלָבִ֣ים (And these dogs) עַזֵּי־ (are strong) נֶ֗פֶשׁ (of appetite)

לֹ֤א (not) יָֽדְעוּ֙ (do they know) שָׂבְעָ֔ה (satisfaction)

וְהֵ֣מָּה (and they are) רֹעִ֔ים (shepherds) לֹ֥א (not) יָדְע֖וּ (knowing) הָבִ֑ין (discernment);

כֻּלָּם֙ (they all) לְדַרְכָּ֣ם (to their own way), פָּנ֔וּ (turn)

אִ֥ישׁ (each man) לְבִצְע֖וֹ (for his own gain), מִקָּצֵֽהוּ׃ (from his quarter).

12  אֵתָ֥יוּ (Come) אֶקְחָה־ (I will bring) יַ֖יִן (wine),

וְנִסְבְּאָ֣ה (and let us imbibe) שֵׁכָ֑ר (the strong drink);

וְהָיָ֤ה (will be) כָזֶה֙ (and this) י֣וֹם (day), מָחָ֔ר (like tomorrow)

גָּד֖וֹל (great) יֶ֥תֶר (abundant) מְאֹֽד׃ (exceedingly).
