A Prophecy against Ammon

1And the word of YHWH came to me, saying: 2“Son of man, set your face against the sons of Ammon, and prophesy against them. 3And say to the sons of Ammon, hear the word of the Lord YHWH, thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because you said, “Aha!” Against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it became desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went, into captivity; 4therefore behold, I am giving you to the sons of the East as a possession, and they will settle their encampments among you, and they will put their tents among you; they will eat your fruit, and they will drink your milk. 5And I will give Rabbah as a habitation of camels, and the sons of Ammon as a resting place for the flock. And you⁺ will know that I am YHWH.’

6For thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because of your clapping hands and your stomping with feet, and you rejoiced with all contempt of heart against the land of Israel, 7therefore behold, I am stretching out My hand against you, and will give you as plunder to the nations, and I will cut you off from the peoples, and I will cause you to perish from the lands; I will destroy you, and you will know that I am YHWH!’

A Prophecy against Moab

8Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because of the saying of Moab and Seir,† “Behold, like all the nations is the house of Judah,” 9therefore behold, I am going to lay open the shoulder of Moab from the cities, from its cities on its frontier, the glory of the land—Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim— 10to the sons of the East, along with the sons of Ammon, and I will give it as a possession, so that the sons of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations. 11And against Moab I will make judgments, and they will know that I am YHWH.’

A Prophecy against Edom

12Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because Edom acted by taking vengeance against the house of Judah, so they incurred grievous guilt in the avenging themselves on them. 13Therefore, thus says the Lord YHWH: I will stretch out My hand against Edom, and will cut off from it man and beast, and I will give it as a desolation; from Teman and to Dedan they will fall by the sword. 14And I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel, and they will act in Edom according to My anger and according to My fury, and they will know My vengeance, a declaration of the Lord YHWH.’

A Prophecy against the Philistines

15Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because the Philistines acted with vengeance and took vengeance with scorn in the soul, to destroy with ancient hostility, 16therefore, thus says the Lord YHWH: Behold, I am stretching out My hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and I will destroy the remnant of the coast of the sea. 17And I will execute against them great vengeance, with rebukes of fury, and they will know that I am YHWH when I lay My vengeance upon them!’”
