The Order of the Camps 1And YHWH spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2“Each man under his own standard, beside the emblems of the house of his father, the sons of Israel shall camp; some distance from the Tent of Meeting they shall camp. 3And the ones camping on the east side, toward the rising of the sun, of the standard of the camp of Judah by their hosts: And the leader of the sons of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab, 4and his host was numbered at four and seventy thousand and six hundred. 5And the ones camping next to him are the tribe of Issachar, and the leader of the sons of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar. 6And his army was numbered at four and fifty thousand and four hundred. 7Then the tribe of Zebulun, and the leader of the sons of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon. 8And his army was numbered at seven and fifty thousand and four hundred. 9All who were numbered of the forces with Judah were a hundred thousand and eighty thousand and six thousand and four hundred, according to their armies. They shall set out first. 10The standard of the forces with Reuben is on the south side, according to their armies: And the leader of the sons of Reuben is Elizur son of Shedeur; 11and his army was numbered at six and forty thousand and five hundred. 12And those who camp next to him is the tribe of Simeon, and the leader of the sons of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. 13And his army was numbered at nine and fifty thousand and three hundred. 14And the tribe of Gad, and the leader of the sons of Gad is Eliasaph son of Deuel.† 15And his army was numbered at five and forty thousand and six hundred and fifty. 16All who were numbered of the forces with Reuben were a hundred thousand and one and fifty thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their armies. And they shall set out second. 17And the Tent of Meeting with the camp of the Levites shall set out in the middle of the camps; as they camp, so they shall set out, every man in his place, by their standards. 18The standard of the forces with Ephraim, according to their armies, is on the west side: And the leader of the sons of Ephraim is Elishama son of Ammihud, 19and his army was numbered at forty thousand and five hundred. 20And Next to him is the tribe of Manasseh, and the leader of the sons of Manasseh is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. 21And his army was numbered at two and thirty thousand and two hundred. 22And the tribe of Benjamin; and the leader of the sons of Benjamin is Abidan son of Gideoni. 23And his army was numbered at five and thirty thousand and four hundred. 24All who were numbered of the forces with Ephraim were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, according to their armies. And they shall be the third to set out. 25The standard of the forces with Dan is on the north side, according to their armies: And the leader of the sons of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai; 26and his army was numbered at two and sixty thousand and seven hundred. 27And those who camp next to him are the tribe of Asher, and the leader of the sons of Asher is Pagiel son of Ocran. 28And his army was numbered at one and forty thousand and five hundred. 29And the tribe of Naphtali; and the leader of the sons of Naphtali is Ahira son of Enan. 30And his army was numbered at three and fifty thousand and four hundred. 31All who were numbered of the forces with Dan were a hundred thousand and seven and fifty thousand and six hundred. They shall set out last with their standards.” 32These are the ones who were numbered of the sons of Israel by the houses of their fathers; all who were numbered of the forces according to their armies were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. 33And the Levites were not numbered among the sons of Israel, as YHWH commanded Moses. 34And the sons of Israel did according to all that YHWH commanded Moses. And they camped by their standards, and they broke camp, each one by his family, according to the houses of their fathers.
