Psalm 2

The Triumphant Messiah
(Acts 4:23–31)

1Why do the nations rage,

and the peoples plot in vain?

2The kings of the earth take their stand,

and the rulers establish themselves together

against YHWH

and against His Anointed:

3“Let us tear off their bonds,

and cast away from us their cords.”

4The One sitting in the heavens laughs;

the Lord scoffs at them.

5Then He speaks to them in His anger,

and in his fury He terrifies them:

6“And I have installed My King on Zion,

the mountain of My holiness.”

7I will recount the decree of YHWH;

He has said to Me:

“You are My Son;

today I have begotten You.

8Ask from Me and I will give the nations as Your inheritance,

and the ends of the earth for Your possession.

9You will break them with a rod of iron;

You will shatter them like a vessel of a potter.

10And now, O kings, be prudent;

be admonished, O judges of the earth.

11Serve YHWH with fear,

and rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,

and you⁺ perish in the way,

when His wrath is kindled in an instant.

Blessed are all seekering refuge in Him.
