Ascribe Glory to Yahweh

1A Psalm of David.

1 Ascribe to YHWH, O sons of the mighty ones.†

Ascribe to YHWH glory and strength.

2Ascribe to YHWH the glory of His name;

bow down before YHWH in the splendor of holiness.†

3The voice of YHWH is upon the waters;

the God of glory thunders—

YHWH is over many waters.

4The voice of YHWH is with power,

the voice of YHWH is with majesty.

5The voice of YHWH breaks the cedars,

and YHWH shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

6He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,

and Sirion† like the son of a wild ox.

7The voice of YHWH is hewing

flames of fire.

8The voice of YHWH causes the wilderness to writhe;

YHWH causes the wilderness of Kadesh to writhe.

9The voice of YHWH twists the oaks,†

and strips bare the forests—

and in His temple all of it is saying, “Glory!”

10YHWH has sat over the flood,

and YHWH sits as King forever.

11YHWH gives strength to His people;

YHWH blesses His people with peace.
