You Turned My Mourning into Dancing

1A Psalm. A song for the dedication of the house of David.

1 I will exalt You, O YHWH,

for You have drawn me up,

and You did not let my enemies

rejoice over me.

2O YHWH my God, I cried for help to You,

and You healed me.

3O YHWH, You have brought up my soul from Sheol;

from my going down to the Pit, You have kept me alive.

4Make music to YHWH, His faithful ones,

and praise His holy name.

5For a moment is His anger;

for a lifetime is His favor.

In the night lodges weeping,

and in the morning, joy.

6And I said in my prosperity,

“I will not be shaken forever.”

7O YHWH, by Your favor

You made my mountain stand strong;

You have hidden Your face—

I was dismayed.

8To You, O YHWH, I called out,

and to my Lord I made supplication.

9“What profit is in my blood,

in my going down to the Pit?

Will the dust confess You?

Will it declare Your truth?

10Hear, O YHWH, and have mercy on me;

O YHWH, be the One giving help to me.”

11You have turned my mourning to dancing for me;

You have opened my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

12so that my glory will sing praise to you, and not be silent.

O YHWH, my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
