Victory with God 1For the one directing. According to “The Lily of the Covenant.” A Miktam† of David for teaching, in his struggling with Aram-naharaim† and with Aram-zobah,† when Joab returned and struck Edom in the Valley of Salt—twelve thousand men. 1 O God, You have rejected us; You have broken us; You have been angry; 2The earth You have made quake; You have torn it open; may You heal its fractures, 3You have made Your people see hardship; You have made us drink the wine of staggering. 4You have given a banner to those who fear You, to be set prominently before the face of the bow.† 5That Your beloved may be rescued, bring salvation with Your right hand and answer us. 6God has spoken in His holiness:† “I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem, and I will measure out the Valley of Succoth. 7Gilead is unto Me, and Manasseh is unto Me; and Ephraim is the helmet for My head; Judah is My scepter; 8Moab is the pot for my washing, and upon Edom I will cast My sandal; I will give a shout over Philistia.” 9Who will bring me to the city of fortification? 10Have You not, O God, rejected us, and do You not go forth, O God, with our armies? 11Give to us help against the enemy— 12In God we will perform with strength, and He will trample our adversaries.
